Re: Gas Prices "another Gas Price thread"

Read an article in the paper last night that claimed gas was going to drop to $3.50 this summer, while that is a bit higher than I care for it is way better than $4.29 btu I won't hold my breath, with the world as it is who knows what will come up next and you know they will use anything to get the price back up.

Re: Gas Prices "another Gas Price thread"

1. Are gas prices going to put a cramp in your boating style?
2. Are you going to be spending less time out at the lake?
3. Do you have a gas budget that you follow?
4. Do you not worry about gas prices and just fill up and go?
5. Do you purchase Gas from a Marina, Service Station or both?

My Answers

1. A little. I will spend less time doing water sports and just floating around, swimming and enjoying family time. We are good with this.
2. Maybe not less time but we will go to the closer lakes.
3. Haven't had the boat long enough to develope a budget.
4. I wish.
5. Service Station. No need to go to a marina. I don't burn enough gas during an outing
to have to get gas on the Lake.

Thanks.

1. Not really... It has put a cramp in my "going out to eat style", though. I no longer make frivolous purchases; and I put a lot more thought into what I spend money on... Boating will not suffer, nor will my family and I due to lack of boating!!!

2. Absolutely... I'll be going down to The Gulf and ICW.:D (Not because of gas prices.)

3. My boat has a 56 gallon fuel tank. I put in no more than the tank will hold.

4. It is, of course, a concern. Worry is interest paid on trouble before it's due!!!;)

5. I get most of the fuel I use from service stations on the way to the water. Once on the water, when I need more, I'll get it on the water.

I dont like the gas prices, but who does. I will ride the Harley more to go to work, better then the Chevy Suburban. I dont do alot of cruising, mainly sit and fish some, and enjoy the day on the water. I pretty much have passed up my WOT days, and enjoy just being on the water. What ever it takes to get on the water, I wont let gas prices get me down, besides once Im on the water, all my stresses are gone. Maybe I should name the boat "Chill Pill".

On the bright side, today, FOX News has been reporting that gas prices are predicted to drop $.50 to $.75 per gallon by the end of summer. So we'll see. That would make the the answer to several of those questions easier to answer.

Let's see. Gas has gone up $1.50 a gallon and now they say it will go down $0.50 to $0.75 a gallon. How exactly is this good. Raise price $0.75 a gallon and watch them complain, raise it a $1.50 a galllon and then lower it $0.75 a gallon and they think you did them a favor.

1. No
2. Yes but not because of gas prices. My wife and I are finally taking the trip to Europe that we have talking about for 20 years so we will be gone for almost 3 weeks which will reduce our boating time.
3. No
4. No however I do keep an eye on prices and go to the cheapest stations around. Gas is gas.
5. Both but prefer a Station. I also bring some gas cans with me when the need arises. Last year when I spent a week on Sebago it was much cheaper to fill a few 5 gallon gas cans than pay for gas at the marina. I still had to buy some gas at the marina but if we left the campground I filled the 2 five gallons cans and they ended up in the boat.

Boating won't be impacted. Driving has been. Had to go to a family function and hour and a half away on Saturday. Both my wife and I and my in-laws own comfortable SUV's. Instead, all 5 of us cramped into our Accord for the trip. Sucked.

Thank you all for the Replies.

Like I said before. I could go out to the lake and not burn hardly any fuel in the boat.
Just being on the water is a good stress reliever.
