I have a 1997 evinrude 115. E115eleua, I've got a remanufactured powerhead on it put on in february of this year. I've noticed that there's always gas leakinng into the airbox silencer, but it's at the fittings where it sits onto the throats of the carburetors... All the hoses are connected at the top and the bottom of the air silencer, the shop told me it's normal? I've read some posts that say it is, and some that aren't. The factory manual shows no gas should leak period. Would you say it's something I should fix or no?

Take silencer off. Squeeze bulb tilll firm, keep squeezing gently. Is fuel running/seeping out carb throats with engine slightly tilted? If so you have an issue, if not probably no issue as some fuel, at times, is normal with a running engine.

My 90hp Johnson spits a little fuel when running, which is certainly normal. I noticed rainbows in the water behind my boat which is not normal. Ended up being hardened gaskets between the carb and air box. Cut new gaskets, ensured drain hose in silencer was clear, no more problem.

Okay I will take a look later today, I haven't seen rainbows behind the boat yet. I have before when the hose wasn't connected, but it looks like just a small drip, the shop told me it was just umused gas spilling back from the carbs, but they also told me the remanufactured powerhead
Made by a company they buy from swapped up two top pistons on the motor, which O kinda think is bs cause previously the motor ran as long as I pumped the bulb, which to me sounded like fuel pump.. But thats my .02
