I have a 12 gallon gas tank mounted under the transom of my 16' starcraft. The fuel fill is in the top of the transom and right below it on the side of the outboard well is the vent. I overfilled the tank ont eh way to the lake and of course got some leakage out the vent. Went tot he lake and ran it for a while but had problems. Tank is no longer full but when sitting inthe drive way with the trailer slightly tilted up for drainage when the sun heats up the boat some I get fuel forced out the vent and down into the transom. I l;oosed the cap and still leaked. and fuel was pushed up into the filler neck as high as the vent. I turned the boat around, my drive slopes a little bit, and it seems to have stopped, but I don't want to have to turnt he boat backwards inthe drive all the time if I get the tank even close to full before a trip. Anything I could do to help this?

Thanks
Sarc.

Agreed. My Sea Ray manual says not to overfill and I've learned to even fill the last half pretty slowly. If not, it will b^rp through the vent once or twice and make fuel run down over the side & decals etc.

"Full tank" means only tank full - not the tubes and hoses. Fuel will expand from the rather cold environment in the tanks at the station, to your boat's naturally temperated tank.

Sarconastic, Sometimes the fuel tanks have the vent fitting behind the fuel fill fitting. If this is the case, the vent is downhill from the fill, when the nose of the boat is up. This means that the vent will overflow before the tank appears full. If this is your problem, see if there a forward place on the fuel tank that will accept the vent fitting. Sometimes the fuel tank is made with switchable vent and fuel pickup fitings.
