Hey all, I've a 2004 Lund Mr.Pike 18. I am changing gauges in the spring. Should I just replace with analog gauges or does anyone prefer the digital style? Thanks for any responses.

you can read an analog gauge at a glance just by approximate location of the pointer. you should be sweeping your gauges with your eyes about once every 10 seconds or so (just like in your car). most race car drivers/mechanics orient the gauges so all the dials point up so you can sweep the gauges in a very short time and know all is good

a digital gauge takes too long for you to focus...read...comprehend. and during that time your eyes are not in front of you. it takes about 3 seconds to focus, read and comprehend a gauge, then you need to move to the next gauge.

However its your boat. get what you want.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I was leaning to the analog, until I was shopping around and saw the digital. I was also wondering about reading the digital with any glare. Will go with the analog.

I prefer analog too, for the same reason that Scott does. I can essentially "read" them with my peripheral vision just by noting the position of the pointer. I don't like digital gauges in a car, either for the same reason. I don't like to take my eyes off the road for the time it takes to read and process the information.

Analog. If the signal from the sensor is varying, it can be very difficult to read some digital gauges unless they have damping circuitry.

The good majority of race car drivers configure the new digital dashes to look like their old analog because they are easier to read at speed, we all get programed to process needle position when we take up driving. I had a car with a digital gauge package and the first thing I did was order a standard analog package for it,
