gauges help

i just recently got a flats boat and she has gauges on her. water, speed, tach, voltage. i don't think they are accurate. the water pressure is always around 2 to 4 psi, the mpg doens't move and the tach is at around 2000rpm when off. can i reset the tach to zero and go from there? if so, how? can these gauges be repaired or cleaned out. the wiring looks fine, no breaks or cracks.

Does the tach reset when the motor is running? What size motor?

As for the water pressure gauge - it's always 2-4psi? It should increase with rpm's. 2-4 would be idle pressure. Mine goes up to 25psi or so around 4500 rpm's. I would check to pitot hose to make sure it's not plugged. Is the motor running hot? How's the impeller?

i checked the sensor hose last night and it looked clogged. I cleaned it out. hopefully this should take care of it. the impeller i just changed out last weekend and the she runs fine. when running i can still touch her.

the tach i don't know if she resets when running i didn't check that. should it?

Many Tachs set at an elevated #,... til you Start the motor......

The instant you turn the key to ON (not START), the tach should set to zero because the engine is running at -- well -- zero rpm. When you start it the tach should read whatever the idle rpm is for your motor but very likely in the 650 - 750 rpm range. As you advance the throttle the rpm should rise accordingly. At wide open throttle it should show 5500 rpm, give or take a little depending on how the boat is propped and what engine you have. Water pressure and speedometer are water pressure driven so check both hoses for clogs or kinks.
