Gday everyone its been an awfully long time since posts........Whilst on the water i noticed a donk coming from my gearbox at low rpm, then another donk and another assuming that the clutch dog needed replacing.....couple of days later i took it in and had forward gear and reverse gear and cluth dog changed as well as a full seal kit.....Came time to put the boat in the water and Donk then donk again,so i decided to give it a little and see what happens....it got worse so decided to call it a day....i am bedazzled to what this problem may be because it goes in and out of forward and reverse perfectly, its like she wants to engage but needs that little bit more,i dont no................Any suggestions would be appreciated...CHEERS..:)

Re: Gearbox Problems

Disconnect the shift cable at the engine, shift into forward and do a test under load.
If OK, either your shift rod or cable is not correct adjusted or not enough stroke in the cable/remote.

Re: Gearbox Problems

I mentioned that suggestion above.
However:
1: check that the shift lever on engine where cable is attached is vertical when in neutral.
2: Check that when the gear case is in neutral (balls in prop shafts are in the dents in the clutch dog)
it lines up with the neutral position of #42 in below link. If not, lower shift rod has to be adjusted.
