ph makes a good case for drydocking it, but maybe that is not an option for you? I do not think it is all that dangerous , if you know what you are doing. There are many ways to skin a cat, btw...

There are so many ways to go about doing what you are wanting to do. Here is just one way I have found that works, with what I have laying about...
Do you have a big floor jack? Some 2x4s? Some rugged sawhorses? a big beam of some sort? If so, jack up the stern of the boat, 1 side at a time and support the corners with some cribbing of suitable size.
Then, put yer sawhorses on either side of the bow, jack up the bow until you can get the beam under it, supporting the bow with the beam. Padding is good.

Then, pull the trailer out from underneath and go to work on it.
