Re: Glasstream boat project
Gt, would BONDO be a good gap filler on the inside part?,no strength needed......
I personally prefer to use only fiberglass products with fiberglass and would avoid any use of Plastic Automotive filler on a boat...the one exception I can think of, is to use the hairy 'Bondo" that is made for marine use, but this stuff is too expensive for my taste and I can make it the way I want using a combination of micro-ballons, cabosil, milled fibers and resin...with a combination of the above, you can whip up much better, stronger and cheaper gap fillers...
Like I said, 'Bondo' does tend to absorb water and if it is too thick, could begin to
delaminate from the underlying fiberglass, especially in the environment the boat is subjected to...vibration at speed and the constant exposure to moisture...However, if you use it just as a pinhole filler, it should work out just fine...
