Re: Going to disable my oil pump. Where in the archives is the process?
The bushing you removed Tmark wouldn't fall out, the bushing 17 is talking about is in crankcase at the bottom of #1 cylinder. The plug kit is a long stem that holds bushing in in place in case of overheat as that when it falls out.
Say man, would you give me an item number on the crankcase IPB or wherever so that I can look at this bushing? My question is, does it keep the drive gear engaged in the crankshaft gear? I mean, thinking about it, in my caper, I saw nothing that would push against the gear I removed to keep it from just going into the engine, which would cause it to disconnect from the oil pump drive.
I am going to stop for a minute, go out to the shop, look at my IPB and see if I can find what you are talking about.
Overheat? Interesting. What is the mechanism that causes a problem at overheat that doesn't occur at normal operating temps?
Be right back.
Well I looked at the aft half of the block and there is nothing identified just below the lower cylinder in the area that the oil pump drive gear is located. So, I'd assume that the drive shaft just rests against the block. Only additional part in that area, is a dowel pin (10) somewhat below the location of the crank gear. Not sure as to it's use.
