Midwest flooding has cost many a lot of loss. Lucky we're just inconvenienced. But I'll still whine. We finally opened our Dubuque IA Miss river place yesterday. 19' gauge, just low enough to cross the road to get in. Pic shows 18.6' today. Nine feet above normal, seven feet above where I can put in the rest of our marine rail lift.

We went over to turn on the water and for me to check rumors of ice damage on the submerged part of the shore permanent lift structure shown. USACE river forecasts say it'll be a couple more weeks before I can see anything.

This is our eighth year owning the place, and our fifth waiting until late June-early July to get the lift and boat in due to high water. Consolation is the view and neighbors are great. First World Problem (FWP) whining here. Sorry. I'm using the slack time to fix my neighbors Cobra O/D.

Going to be very short boating season on the river, assuming it ever goes down. Folks on the river are taking a beating...

Just got back from Omaha visiting my kids and when flying in the airport was waterfront and the Missouri River was like 3 times the size it normally is.

I feel for you though being cheated out of a month or two of boating is near tragic!

Lucky here so far in the PNW, no flooding this year.

harringtondav is it any better yet? Seems like the river has gone down a good bit... although this weather system coming in could change that. We're about 40 miles from the river and we're predicted to get 1"-2" of rain Saturday alone!

I ain't holding my breath. Rivergages.com shows a trajectory that's telling me I'll be lucky to splash in June, late June. 17.4 gauge tomorrow. I need 11.5 to put in the rest of my marine rail track. Going over in one week and hopefully the water will be down enough to assess any ice damage and order up any new structural aluminum for any repairs to the lift.

Good news is the river experience is great, with or w/out the boat at the ready. I've got an ongoing basement remodel project that will take my mind off any boating delays.

Well....... I kind of feel your pain. Our water levels are high, many of the fields are still flooded - everyone is tired of RAIN!!!!! But..... I still have my heat on in my house, I have complained in the past about snow, cold weather, ice, floods and of course taxes etc.......

We are never happy and we all complain about something. Did I mention getting older kid of sucks too! ;)

I hope your damage is not too severe it seems like we are always fixing something
