Re: Good Boat names

Have a Ranger 335 V that is a "work in progress" !(has been for some time). Appropriately named "Ugly Betty" (at least for the moment, things are beginning to come together!)

Re: Good Boat names

In the late seventies my family bought a lake house in Vermont and we became crazy with attending auctions (GREAT fun!). Naturally, when the local marina put on an end-of-season auction, we attended. I was shocked when my stepmom turned to me, then a teenager, and asked if the boat currently on the block was nice or not (my Dad was off looking at other stuff). I knew nothing about boats, but as a good red-blooded American male, I could form an opinion on the spot (YES!) and she started raising her hand.

A few minutes later, we took ownership of a 19' Renken soon to be named... Highest Bid

I personally sketched the lettering on a sheet of adhesive-backed vinyl (shelving liner maybe?) and cut it out with an X-Acto knife.

Highest Bid served our family well for over a decade. Dad sold her to someone else on our lake and she's changed hands again since then. Earlier this month I had the joy of seeing her on the lake still going strong, providing joy, and displaying her name with the same hand-cut, teenager-styled applique.

Here's a few we thought about:

NoLonz
Kids R Gone
My Boobjob
Sanity Break
Next Step Up
twofootitis
Smells Fishie

But since the Admiral and I usually got out together on Sunday afternoons, we settled on Sundae Float. And yes we both love ice cream.

Re: Good Boat names

Just got a bigger boat, to allow me to go out into the Gulf, so was thinking about "Going Deeper". To complement that, my wife wants her own boat next year for sunning and swimming (she doesn't like the one we got, as it's more for fishing), so I'm thinking her's could be "Getting Wetter". She kinda chuckled at the pair....

My uncle had a large pontoon and a son named Rick. He named it RIXRAFT which I always liked.
