Re: Good Boat names
In the late seventies my family bought a lake house in Vermont and we became crazy with attending auctions (GREAT fun!). Naturally, when the local marina put on an end-of-season auction, we attended. I was shocked when my stepmom turned to me, then a teenager, and asked if the boat currently on the block was nice or not (my Dad was off looking at other stuff). I knew nothing about boats, but as a good red-blooded American male, I could form an opinion on the spot (YES!) and she started raising her hand.
A few minutes later, we took ownership of a 19' Renken soon to be named... Highest Bid
I personally sketched the lettering on a sheet of adhesive-backed vinyl (shelving liner maybe?) and cut it out with an X-Acto knife.
Highest Bid served our family well for over a decade. Dad sold her to someone else on our lake and she's changed hands again since then. Earlier this month I had the joy of seeing her on the lake still going strong, providing joy, and displaying her name with the same hand-cut, teenager-styled applique.
