Re: Good grease gun?
I've had one I bought at the John Deere dealer for about 25 years or so, I think its just a Lincoln brand grease gun with a John Deere logo. The top section is cast aluminum and can be bled, and it works with only one hand. Forget the el cheapo ones from wally world and those rechargeable ones always seem to be dead when you need them the most.
I have had a few cheapie blister pack guns die on me, they usually just start bypassing grease out the back end.
Even a cheap gun will work for a while but like mentioned above, the rubber seal tends to fail or come loose.
I've still got one here that a neighbor gave me many years ago which says US Army Air Corp on it still stuck in a 10 gallon bucket of super heavy military grease from way back when. It's the stuff I use then it really don't matter or when I just want to keep something from rusting. The grease gun still works like new if you don't mind getting covered in grease using it. It's the type where you have to self fill the tube in the bucket, no cartridges back then I guess.
