Does anyone have a suggestion for a good grease gun to use on my buddy bearings? I've broken every one I have owned in a matter of months. Thanks.

Ayuh,.. How,..??..??

Greaseguns are pretty Simple Tools....
Unless it gets run over, I've still got all of the 1s I've owned, including the 1 that was my Dad's...

I prefer the pistol grip type, rather than the Lever guns,... It's easier to pump single handed...

Lincoln is a common name of Good guns,+ are available at Napa auto parts...

I'm convinced there isn't a quality one readily available.
I've got a small Wally World unit with marine grease. The smaller units are hard to find.
Regular size, tried 'em all through the years...from Sears, local parts stores, Harbor Freight, et.al. They all appear to be the same stamped junk.
Fortunately they're inexpensive.

The higher quality ones have a vent on top to vent out the air and are usually triple loadable..... I actually keep 2 on hand. One with moly and one with blue marine grease.

Lincoln makes a good gun.

If you ever get the chance to use a powered gun it will spoil you.

i use a lincoln 14.0 volt cordless grease gun by trade little pricey but after greasing things for 15 years with lever type i wish i sucked up on the price long ago,it will push the thickest grease on the coldest days all day long recommend to everyone, once you try it you'll never use manual type again

Re: Good grease gun?

I've had one I bought at the John Deere dealer for about 25 years or so, I think its just a Lincoln brand grease gun with a John Deere logo. The top section is cast aluminum and can be bled, and it works with only one hand. Forget the el cheapo ones from wally world and those rechargeable ones always seem to be dead when you need them the most.
I have had a few cheapie blister pack guns die on me, they usually just start bypassing grease out the back end.
Even a cheap gun will work for a while but like mentioned above, the rubber seal tends to fail or come loose.

I've still got one here that a neighbor gave me many years ago which says US Army Air Corp on it still stuck in a 10 gallon bucket of super heavy military grease from way back when. It's the stuff I use then it really don't matter or when I just want to keep something from rusting. The grease gun still works like new if you don't mind getting covered in grease using it. It's the type where you have to self fill the tube in the bucket, no cartridges back then I guess.

Re: Good grease gun?

Thanks for the tips. I'll check out Lowes (since they are right down the road) for the lever type gun and, if that does not work out, opt for the Lincoln brand.
