Wait till they take your car from you or tax you to the point you can no longer afford to own one... then report back how good of news this is.

Ya.....cuz that is almost realistic. Not all regulation leads to that level of extremism.

It might be good news, except now there will be a bi-partisan effort to regulate according to massive industry campaign contributions.
Loopholes will be bought and huge complicated "smoke and mirror" formulas will be paid in full for.

I don't agree with not doing anything. However, very little that is done these days has anything to do with the "people" being represented with fairness.
Everyone in Washington will do thier part to make sure you and I will take a back seat to special interest.
Especially when it comes to issues of "public good".

In the 70's when smog pumps came out... they were going to take my car....

In the 80's when even more smog regs came out... they were going to take my car....

In the 90's....

Today's news....

I'm still driving the same '67 Mustang... I'll keep waiting for them to take it....

Actually, I think this is a good thing and about time.
Sorry OMR.

That's OK Rubber, I guess you and the rest here want to be regulated a great deal more then you are now. I have known Liberals want that, and I know you have sniffed your own gas and voted fer Clinton a while back. When can I have yer boat, cars, trucks, et al. (I was thinkin' 'bout opening up a dealership in China or India)? Ya gonna get a sail boat, row boat or are ya jus' gunna hang out on the sofa? The nice part of the Liberal strategy is the Courts are a lifetime appointment. So if ya change yer mind: ferget it. The Deal is Done! Yay!! JR

OMR, my plan is to get a little pink bicycle and then have a gay marriage. Right after I go on welfare to support my crack habit. Oh, and of course I plan to bow to the east 5 times a day.

Yahsureyabetcha! Rubber. Now about that 67' 'stang? I bet a rich guy from India may want it. Yer boat? Ya won't need any guns since yer on yer knees at least five times a day, (the five fer prayin' ta Allah). Ya think the other Muslims will be impressed with the pink bike? Maybe ya better keep tha guns on second thought. JR 8)8)8)8)8)

It looks like the auto industry has adopted the "if you can't beat 'em - join 'em" philosophy. They would be glad to sell a car that does meet any required reduced CO2 emissions - for 1.5 times the price of a current one that doesn't! Hell - make it zero emissions & they can charge double!
Whoop-de-effin-doo.

10 - 4 Stevieray. Corporations are not EVIL as Libs would have you believe. They recognize the current insanity, and will adjust to live in the 'brave new world', we are creatin' here in the good ol' USA. Yer post is spot on. People want more 'nanny' government, obvoiusly ; look at yer fellow boat ownin' friends here on iboats cheerin' for big government, that have trouble extrapolatin' trends. They want to give their money to Liberals' business schemes for 'carbon credits' :}:}, so they will 'feel better', and can cornsume the same amount or more energy knowin' they gave some of their money to a goofy 'carbon credit' scheme. Do ya really think that would save the planet? :}:} Please think people! Jus' a li'l!! JR

The overwhelming majority of CO2 comes from trees and plants. How are we going to solve that one?

No, I understand photosynthesis completely. I'm not talking about photosynthesis. But what you (and most) don't understand is that photosynthesis a) only goes on during the daytime when there is light and b) is only half of what plants do. Didn't you ever learn the Krebs Cycle? I'll give you the short version: Photosynthesis uses light energy to make sugar molecules during the day. But, cellular respiration (via the Krebs Cycle) breaks the sugar molecules down into 3 things: Energy, Water, and CO2. For every 1 molecule of sugar broken down, 6 molecules of CO2 are produced. Most cellular biologists believe the overall various processes to be slightly CO2+ ,mostly due to fermentation, which brings me to the point of the absurdity of ethanol as a "solution"...

You must have got an 'F' on that test... Plant's are definately co2 negative. They consume more then respire. Tht's why I have to supplement my planted tank with co2. If your theory were true all of my fish would slowly suffocate.

As far as the rest of you... give me a break. Why is it a bad thing for the auto industry to clean up emissions? You don't think technological advances are a good thing? Remember those old smoke belching cars of the 70's? Is that where you would have left us?

Defending the emissions record of the auto industry moves you beyond the far right... beyond conservative... you become radical right wing extremists... your ideology of wealth gathering at any cost shows you to not ask what you can do for your country but what your country can do for you.

co2 is a polutant. Put a bag on your head and keep breathing if you think it is so good. Everything in moderation.

The constitution doesn't give you the right to pollute up the whole world just so you can make a dollar.

Oh and by the way, you're like a bunch of piranhas, first chance you get, you turn on your own. All this long winded obloviating and wearing the tips of your fingers to the bone to be clever and repeat the same old tired rhetoric you heard on the news... give me a break. Don't outsmart yourselves... you're smart but let's not over do your own sense of self worth.

I'd like to end this with "respectfully" but why put something false at the end? I'm just shoving my opinion down your throat....
