Worked all summer on my 20' beater CC, then the J150.
Finally got it in the water this Friday, park the truck and see its sitting very low, remember the plug and jumped in the back, can't reach down so jump in the water and finally get it in. 2 feet of water in the bilge and its within 1/4 inch of the transom, get the pump going , water is at least 10 feet deep where I am, can't haul it out because the ramp is busy.

After 30 minutes the bilge is doing better, cellphone is in my pocket, thats toast.
Start the engine and delighted it runs a LOT better in the water than on muffs.

We stayed within paddle distance of the ramp and tested the engine , opened it up for 2 seconds and almost fell backwards,
gee these things go fast.!!
Only had 4 gals of fuel so we kept very close eye on it but ran 1/2 hr with just a couple of WOT tests, mostly just puttered around.
Very happy with the way it runs.

Hauling it out, I put the trailer in too deep, it didn't center too well on the trailer but did on the way home, after hearing a bang I was able to tighten the transom strap on one side.

Anyone wanna go offshore, I think I got the hang of this stuff now.

Note to self; put new cellphone in sealed baggy in console.
Good news is croc's float but I coulda ran faster in sneakers.

Take your battery out of the cell phone and place phone in a small room with a dehumidifier for two days. Or use a hair dryer on low setting. It might work. I have had luck using a dehumidifier on a phone I dropped in water.

Put the phone in a bowl of uncooked rice for a day or so. The rice will draw the moisture out.

Preheat oven to 450, place cellphone on cookie sheet for 45 minutes while you go get a new phone. :D

The uncooked rice thing works...my sister-in-law did it with hers after she was caught in a downpour.

If anything electronic gets dunked, and you can get the power off'n it, it'll usually survive. If it's contaminated water (smoke, salt) it needs to be washed thoroughly with distilled water. Any way you can dry em without smoke is just fine. We used to put most of the parts in the sauna for a day or 2. It takes about a week to dry out a big 3-phase transformer.

No kidding. I used to rebuild IBM mainframe and mid (mini-mainframes) computers that were water or smoke damaged. Funnest time was when I was on the street in Boston with a system/38 that had suffered from a lot of acid smoke. I opened it all up and went at it with a garden hose for a half hour. Ten minutes would have done it, but it was hillarious to watch the attracted crowd's reaction. I then soaked it down with a high tech equivalent to WD-40, and sent it off to be crated up and shipped to the lab. That computer was put back into service (a month of cleaning later) with about 3 grand in new parts and sold for about 150 grand.

I got so good at it that IBM would put them back on service agreement with minimal diagnostics and no gotchas.

I think I'll pass on the offshore invite for now.

My phone was in my jet ski in a bag cause the box had a small leak (i had the new seal but didn't put it on). So i was screwing around and submarine it and flipped it a few times. Get it to the house and go to get my phone its siting in a inch of water the bag was ripped and the screens were full of water. Dam that sucks 300$ phone gone. Tried a blow drier didn't help then had to battle with insurance for 3 months cause they kept giving me chines cheepoes.
The need to make an auto drain that shuts when the engine is turned on or something this happens to every one. Maby they already have this idk.

I worked in the electronic manufacturing industry. We cleaned plenty of equipment but we will use 90% alcohol. It helps evaporating the water and leaves no residue. Plus it would not accelerate oxidation. They also had a liquid that will displace the water and evaporate real quick if it got heated a bit over room temperature. I will discourage the use of distilled water unless that is the only available medium. Also, what you need is not to turn the equipment off but remove the batteries. Turning the power off don't prevent a path for the electrons to sensitive circuits if the power source is also submerge. Brackish or saltwater revival is very unlikely and in many cases temporary.

My cell phone fell into the transom well and had water & oil in it. Took the battery out & set it on the stove over the pilot light for a day or so after blowing it out as much as possible. Still working today.
