Its a gorgeous and windy day here in SouthEastern Indiana. Took a motorcycle ride with my girlfriend last night up to Brookville Lake just to hang out at the ramp for a bit and check the water level and really, just to be near the water. Today I'm making a major push on grinding out the front of the bow and grinding down the seams. There is a lot of dry glass where the bow wood was tabbed to the hull. I'm carefully grinding to get through the dry stuff without getting into the hull itself. It's looking pretty good. I hope by the end of the day to have the rest of the decking out too. Anyway, I was just taking a break and thought I'd share my enthusiasm for this hobby. IBoats was a great find and I'm glad to share my boat restoration efforts with you guys here. Mine is an 83 Bayliner Capri 1600. Power is a matching 1983 Force 85. Back to the grinder. I hope you're getting a lot done today too!

Re: Great day to grind fiberglass!

Hi Marty!

Nice weather in NJ too. Should be in the 80's today. Just came in from yardwork, having a cup of coffe, sufing iboats and resting. I already set up the portable work bench in the driveway so I can get to finishing the window frames for the Capri hard top. Got my coverall suit ready and HF sander set to go!

With a little luck, the frames will be ready for paint by the end of today.

BTW, I have cut a few holes in the hull for fuel filler, vents etc, and just a FYI, the hull is 1/4 or slightly thicker. Its gel, mat, cloth, mat, cloth, mat, etc. The bottom may be thicker because if feels more solid, but that may just be because of the stepped hull design.

How about some pics of the work?

Mark.

Re: Great day to grind fiberglass!

It's a sunny day here in the Outer Banks area. I just finished mowing the yard and am taking a break to watch the kids for awhile so the wife can have a little time away from the house, when she get's back it will be on to working on the gunwales on my boat.
It's bike week here so I'm siting here typing this and listening to the motorcycle's as there coming into town.
Have a great day!

Absolutely wonderful day here in Sunny Southwest Florida also. It was supposed to hit 90 but the breeze stayed and it was very comfortable. I got so much boat work done I wore the dog out. He fell asleep with his head on the coffee table.
