Why does it say not to use #16 on 60 degree motors? I have a 2001 johnson 115 and when i pulled mine apart it didn't have that grommet, so i put it back together the same way, but just curious as to why its not used on some and used on others.

Is your 115 a 20" model? (thinking maybe the 60 degree model didn't come with a 20" shaft?)

yes, mine is a 20" shaft. I was just curious as to what was different between the 60 and 90 degree motors for the 60 degree motors to not use them.

The 90 deg crossflow is an entirely different motor than the 60 degree looper.

Motors are not ---" all the same "-----The 25" V-4 and V-6 use a different lower unit as an example.----Perhaps a different midsection / exhaust housing too..----
