Sounds like I was at the receiving end of such a situation. First time I met my girlfiend parents, her dad took me down stairs and showed me his gun collection!

Almost the same for me.

True story.
I was 21 at the time and picked up my girlfriend (now wife) at her parents house for the first time.

Her parents were at the kitchen table when I came in; her father leaned over and picked up an old double barrel shotgun, placed it on the table and said to me, "I hope I won?t have any trouble with you".

I took out my 9mm from my paddle holster, placed it on the table and said back to dad, "The only trouble you?re going to have from me is that I shoot back".
He started laughing and said to his daughter he's a keeper, we were best friends till his death several years back.

See I was just the opposite, I was the guy zoomin the girls, but that was 20 years ago. I was never intimidated buy the dads, most of them I got along with really well and I understood that not only did I have to deal with them if I messed up but most of them were about my dads age and they probably knew my old man. So if I did something wrong I got it from her folks once and my folks second. I guess thats the hazard of living in a small town. Lets just say that I was a gentelman until it was no longer appropriate, then I was still a gentelman. I guess all worked out I am still alive and have 3 sons of my own and now I understand what is meant by the phrase. " someday when you have kids."

I was always more concerned by what my mother would do to me if I did not treat a young lady right. She is a Southern Belle that knows manners and respect.

Been married 28 years. I still treat her right.

I come from a family of five. Four girls and our brother, the oldest.

We all modeled at fashion shows as kids, one of my sisters (11 months older than me) was runner up for Miss NY State and continued modeling into her 20's.

My brother was VERY protective and my father was worse, he ran off every boyfriend we ever had by intimidating them. Answering the door with a shotgun in his hand was usually the last time we saw that date.

Eventually, I smartened up and dated my brother's friends because I knew he wouldn't beat them up, but he would keep them in line in a nice way. He also told my Dad they were good guys.

HAHAHA no TD, I didn't meet Mr. LF until I was 21 and moved out of the house.

He was the road construction inspector for the State of New York. I was the first Flag Girl and Part-time Oiler for the State and quite the novelty apparently. LOL

Everyone had to come check me out, including Mr. LF. Since he was inspecting the job, I saw quite a bit of him and we became good friends. We married 6 years later.

I swear this is the best way to have a long marriage. I was engaged for about 3 months to someone who had been a friend for 6 years.

17+ years later, still going strong.
