How many of you are tired of guests backing out at the last minute? I tell them that I will supply the boat gas and drinks. They supply all the food. It just amazes me how people can back out of plans 15 minutes before we leave. The excuses are pretty pathetic as well. Another person/family on the do not call list. What do other people do to lock in there guests?

Mine usually back out the day before or the day of. Sometimes it changes my plans, sometimes I just go without them.

I feel your pain !!! We have a party barge, and usually invite about 12. Most of the time we leave the dock with 6-8. We basically e-mail a schedule out to all friends and family well in advance with the weekends I know we'll be off, and let them pick the best time for them. Happy boating !!!

I feel your pain BSS, I got so tired of that crapola a few years back that I've quit inviting people and just go by myself now. All my friends and family know they have a standing invite and all they have to do is mention they'd like to go, but I guess they have better things to do... like painting their wives toenails and stuff.

I think I would plan on bringing food/drink/supplies just for us and tell guests to bring their own. If they don't show on time, set sail without them!

It is well known that "wet Spot" is leaving the slip at 10:30 AM on most Sundays. Family and guest that arrive late can wave at the Sea Ray cruising out of the dock. Most will be grateful for the invite and will be on-time. All I ask is to not use spray sunscreen. I supply the boat, gas, food, beer and margaritas.

I think I would sell my boat if I was your friend and lived nearby.

My friends all have their own boats....we meet up at the local sand bar and hang out there..... if they don't show up, no biggie....just hang with someone else.

That's strange.....I have the opposite problem. I actually don't tell people what I plan to do during the weekends. I invite 2 or 3 (deck boat that seats 12) different peeps everyother weekend.

Also, I can't believe you provide the drinks. I tell them I provide the boat they bring the drinks and food!!!! Lol!!!

Re: Guests always back out last minute.

We are at the second week of July and I am already tired of the lame excuses. We do go to the sand bar and hang with people we know but it's nice to share our life style with people that are unformiliar with boating. I like the upgrading of friends idea. I supply the drinks cause my pallet can't handle crappy beer. I always have food on board ready for people not to show.
My wife said a few weeks ago," If we had more friends that actualy showed up for boating, we would get a bigger boat."
But as was mentioned earlier to many guys are painting there wives toe nails.

We need pictures of the wives in question in their bathing suits before it can be determined if this is a valid excuse ot not ....

Spray sunscreen ends up all over the boat...vinyl, carpeting, decks, gelcoat, brightwork....it makes a mess.

No candy left behind.

I'm sure every one of them hit her mouth, by the looks of it.
