I need to find the year of my Yamaha 80hp Two Stroke oil injected.
The numbers on it are: 80AE and 6HO L 451617
I've worn myself out for 2 years trying to find out lol.
The person I bought the boat from said it was 1994-1996, unfortunately he told me a lot of things which were not true :mad:

Have you actually tried contacting a Yamaha company and giving them those numbers?

Is 80AE the complete model identity?

Reason why I ask is because some Yam data I have shows an 80AETO but not an 80AE.

Is the sticker on the side of the motor that shows the production month and year gone?

Why are you so keen to determine the year of production? Is it to order spare parts?

I will give you 1 bit of friendly free help. Get some TP, because your going to crap when you find out the year of it.

Hi, not too bothered about the age as he probably lied anyway, as long as it keeps going I'll be happy.
BTW I don't know what TP is lol.

Hi, no not contacted Yamaha, after a near fatal illness which has left me with another serious condition it has taken me 18 months to ask on here lol.

Why? Why do you need to know that? The model number and date code was given. Why would anybody need to know that information??? I don't get it. All of the OP's questions can be answered by what was already given.

Hi boscoe99, I gave the wrong information by separating 80AE from TO so should have read 80AETO but you know that anyway.

P.S. For others wondering, the engine is 2002.

How about this. On the bottom right of the tag there is a letter stamped. What is that letter?

OP If you reread the info , he said he found a 2002 80AETO starting at 457700 serial # so yours would be a little earlier than that probably

Ah ha. Withholding information I see.

I would have guessed that it is a 2001 model year motor. Reason being that Yamaha data shows that an 80AETO L begin with serial 457700 for 2002. Your serial is somewhat prior to the 2002 model year starting serial number. But for all practical purposes the models don't change that much from year to year anyway.

Hi Boscoe, well I'm even more confused now, just checked on the continouswave site and it gives it as 1983, oh dear:confused:

Did they show a Yamaha chart with model and serial #s like Boscoe99 did or did they just state what year they thought is was?

And did you give them the wrong info like you did here at the start?
info out is only good as the info given

Hi, I can't find that part of the site now, I didn't give any info just looked at the chart, just looked at the (H) and the date alongside it.
