Re: Hand Gun

... cheep hand gun ....Does anyone know if they are any good

Typically these two don't go together.

If I was getting something cheap, I'd go with a revolver and not an auto. As for the company guarantee to fire.... does you no good in the moment. A revolver is very reliable.

Re: Hand Gun

i paid 300 bucks for my markov, 9X 18 pistol. And it has never failed to fire. Works like a champ every time, ejects every shell.
Has a bit of a kick, and will walk up a few inches if you fire 5 rounds in a row. you just have to keep downword pressure on it.

If you have a few extra bucks laying around get her an FN 57. 20 round clip, almost no recoil... Man I wish I lived in another state so I could have one :)

Re: Hand Gun

There is a cheap handgun made by the chinese that is a good one if you can find it. It's called Norinco. The finish might not be as good as the others but most of them shoot very well without any problems. I bought one from a dealer that loves them and when he does his special tune job they are hard to beat. My rotten uncle had a Gold Cup he sold for $500 when he new I was looking for a .45. I was mad so I went an ordered a Norinco built Israel Arms Commander online and took it to him to test for me. He shot his gold cup for a lot of years and was very impressed with the Norinco built .45. He said the trigger was better and it was more accurate than his accurized gold cup. When I told him it was $400 taxes in he was really shocked. I read a metallurgical report one of the gun magazines did on one and they said the pistol was made of hardened steel. I don't have the type of steel they used but it was very good. Not just the wear surfaces like most but the entire thing. It seems the labor, material, and tools are so cheap there they don't have the cost we would have here to machine the entire thing of the harder steel. If you are not worried about the cosmetics they are well built and can be very accurate for the regular .45 at $300.CDN. They are hard to find in the states as they don't import them but up here in Canada they are easy to get. That being said there is nothing like a well made hand gun. Get the best you can afford.

You people are to blame!!:mad: All this gun talk made me do it! :p

I went to a Gun Show in Springfield Mass yesterday and purchased a forged 1911 frame and slide........ Now I have to build it up to my specs ;) Pictures to follow as I go along.

I was also fortunate to score a great deal on a Sig 22 Conversion kit for the wife's P229.

A really great show this year......

Norinco makes more than just guns....cars, trucks, construction equipments, and just about everything else. But yeah, the Norinco copy of the 1911 is a good gun.

Another idea outside of the box is a .410 or .20 gauge pump shotgun. Easy to handle and if you get it with a pistol grip, easy to point. With the pump action, it still makes that 'get out of my house now' noise. She probably won't miss with one either! They are really on the cheap as well.

Re: Hand Gun

Taurus makes a nice 9mm too with their model 911. Just enough heft for solid shooting and accuracy.

This thread's kinda stale, but Bud's has Glock 37 (.45GAP) Gen3 on sale for $379 shipping included to your FFL.

Re: Hand Gun

Update on my decision. Earlier this week i bought a S&W m&p 9mm. I called a friend who is a police officer and we were talking about different things and the subject of me looking for a gun came up. He told me about this S&W that was his firearm. His department upgraded to the 40cal m&p and he was able to purchase his 9mm for $200 so when he offered it to me i took it. The gun was only shot for qualifying so it has very few rounds put through it and i have the history of it. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
