Re: Have a Favorite Pink Floyd Album?
DSOTM for 2 reasons (1) I was there when PF played it live, non-stop, heart beat to heart beat, complete with the DSOTM movie playing on a screen behind the band. Yes, there is a DSOTM movie, images that go with the audio!!!
But before they played DSOTM they opened with 3 new songs, Shine On You Crazy Diamond (it was originally another pf anthem like Echos, more to it than what is on the album), Sheep and Dogs for what would later become the Animals album. PF closed the show by playing the entire song, Echos with fog machines dumping fog for the whole 30 mins or so.
And (2) is because the original DSOTM tour was performed in multi-channel audio so Alan Parsons originally mixed the albums sound effects in multi-channel for the tour, but then remixed it down to 2-ch stereo for the album. The SACD for DSOTM has those sound effects in their original multi-ch glory, just as they where when I heard them at that PF show in 1975. (Yeah, right
as if I could really remember

)
