Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

Thank You,

Found a nice slide of it from around 1966.
Also have the handbook and original shop service manual for 115 HP Motor.
Just have to locate any paper work for the boat.
But I should have it around as I have the sale's receipt for the Boat and Motor.

Hello, I have a 1977 Starcraft Holiday 18' with a 140hp OMC Sterndrive. I have owned this boat for about 10 years, its still it pretty decent shape and I have really done much to it aside from tracking down electrical problems seemingly every year. The starter solenoid was yesterday's adventure.

I was considering parting with her but after seeing all the cool restore pics, I may just hang on to her. A little vinyl repair and a paint job and she'd be a pretty nice boat.

Any information on vinyl seat and cover repair would be helpful. I'm not sure what to do with the Brady Bunch orange seats! :)

Really nice boat fixitup! And I'd absolutely stick with the orange interior. Looks great!

Thanks ezmobee.....cool restore pics! I like the orange too. I replaced the hinges on the jumpseats, so they are all solid. I'm only missing a few buttons for the seats and there is one tear in the engine cover. I haven't been able to find anything to repair/replace to match the orange so I have just left it as is for now. Everything in the boat is original, so I would like to keep that way if possible.

I've got some more work to do on her today. I'll snap some pics of the seats....maybe someone has some ideas.

Hello. I have a 1975 22 ft Holiday with a 200 hp.1978 Johnson on it. I bought the boat two summers ago and everything to my knowledge is orrigional. It is in such good condition I will keep it clean and well used. Only fix what might break. I Have a 9.9 4stroke Elect. start kicker that I connected to a hydro. steering. It is VERY fast I quit at 60 mph on ny gps, and yes it is rated for a 150 but the 200 was on it. Soooo I am in the market for a 150 Hood or a photo of one so I cand look legal. Same size engine only diff. carburation and things.

I just picked up a '71 Starcraft though i'm not sure what model. It's a 16' aluminum runabout with a 120hp Mercruiser I/O. My father in law purchased it for me and from what he says, it's a looker...best part is it was only $600. As soon as I get some pics, i'll post 'em.

If anyone has any good ideas of things for me to do while the floors ripped up I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks!

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

That's a really cool boat Anthony.

http://picasaweb.google.com/ancashion/StarcraftIslander19?feat=directlink#5345477277917104610 this one doesn't look like a very good day...

Truth! It wasn't. Those pictures are from it's maiden voyage under my ownership after I did what the owner swore was it's only problem, rebuild the carbs.

It sucked the primer ball flat and ran itself out of fuel. That's another reason why the floor is being ripped up as there's a problem in the fuel tank somewhere along with the flotation foam being soaked and the floor being rotted. I know now I should have gotten a professional to look at it before I spent the kind of money I did. I'm not one to give up that easily though, may talk about it but I have a hard time letting things get the best of me... Not getting a pro to look at the boat is foolish but not knowing where to draw the line on fixing it is foolish too. I'm betting that 110hp johnson's gonna run like hell.. it better or it's been a complete waste of time!

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

If it has good compression, your 110 is a real good motor. And you have a great hull, totally worth your efforts to fix it up. Yours is a little more difficult to work on due to the cabin but overall aluminum hulls are still MUCH easier to replace the wood in than a fiberglass hull.

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

That's encouraging! Sucks to buy something from someone who you think is being honest with you and you get burned you know? That guy knew there was something wrong in the tank and said NOTHING. He already had the floor ripped up over the top of it. Told me the floor was "spongy" so he was going to replace it but never got around to it. No wonder why he had a brand new boat sitting in his shop opposite of this one.

Why can't people just be honest?

How much did you pay for it?

Re: hello to all fellow starcraft owners

$2500

It's got 183 hours on it

So far I need to replace:

Floor
Flotation foam
Steering (near froze)
Electrical (hacked)
Something in the fuel system (maybe the whole thing, they cross threaded the pickup tube in the original aluminum tank)

And since I'm there I'm adding:

Raw water wash down
Stereo and speakers built in
More seating
May move the battery from the original location to centered under the splashwell and use the original spot as storage or livewells on one side and both batteries on the other?
Kicker bracket since I have such good access to the backside of the transom
Dual bank battery charger w/ thru hull plugin
Misc outlets and what not for ipods and phones and ****
