I picked up a 1999 Fisher V1667 fishing boat/row boat with a 1992 40 h.p oil injected, mercury. We bought it in the middle of 2002 and the boat was brand new and the engine rarely ever used. This boat says it is rated to hold a 40 h.p engine so thats what we put on. After taking it out on the lake numerous times i wanted to open it up, so we did and whenever i try going above half throttle (about 25 mph) it wants to dive down and the hull begins to flop and where the ribs are on the boat begun to split down the middle after a half of year. We called our dealer where we bought the boat from and they said theyd talk to fisher, which they did. So after taking it in and waiting half a year for fisher to figure something out we finally got the boat and we went to pick it up and they welded the ribs back together, put a completly new hull on the boat and put support plates to help take some of the stress off the ribs and hull. We finally take it out on the lake a week ago and it does the same thing the hull is much stronger but it still dives?? can someone please help!?!?

What exactly do you mean by "it wants to dive"?<br />Is the bow being forced down as you accellerate?<br />What hole do you have the tilt pin in?<br />I sounds like the motor needs to be tilted away from the transom.<br /><br />I would move the pin back 2-3 holes and take it down to the South Shore Park launch for a test run.<br /><br />Or is the bow bouncing over waves and slamming down?<br />In that case, you would want to move the tilt pin in, toward the transom.<br /><br />This is not the first time I have heard of troubles with the newer Fisher boats. The new owners seem to have taken short cuts.

yes thats correct the bow is being forced down as you accelerate faster. the boat was specially riged because the engine was ment for a steering console boat but we bought a kit from mercury and changed it into a tiller, but the back of the boat where it holds the engine had to be removed about 6-8 inches to allow the engine to be in the water because it is not a long shaft. As for the pin i am unaware what hole it is in, and the hole that it is in was put there by our dealer.

is the cavatation plate even with the bottom of <br />the hull?<br />may have been better off buying the correct lower<br />unit for the motor...<br />also, put a straight edge on the keel. if it is<br />"cupped" it will do this.<br />safe boating,<br />M.Y.

The pin may have been put there by the dealer, but it is an adjustment that needs to be made after test driving the boat.<br />Don't be reluctant to try different settings.<br /><br />Also, as mellowyellow mentioned, if the hull is "hooked" (defect by shape), you are in the Lincoln Park lagoon without a Mac9.

Agreed.<br /><br />Here's a little to clarify:<br /><br />

<br />The trim pin is situated on the lower bracket outside.

Hey Crownline, where's your cabin? Just curious. I am formerly from Wauwatosa, now living NW of Wausau.
