Re: HELP...89 Black Max troubles !!!
Just did service...Gear oil...Impeller...Oil levels are good in the oil bag and the reserve tank on the motor is good. Battery is not charged had to jump it to start it. When boat is running a broken beep immediately starts before the motor even gets warm. Not sure where to go next.
Any suggetions?
Black Max means it's Mercury, it's big, and it's black. Other than that I have no idea what engine you have. I'll assume from clues that it's a v6 carbureted.
The beeping is from the oil alert module. It means something is wrong with the oil system or it's controls. Because you cannot know whether it is getting oil or not,
DO NOT PROCEED until you mix oil with your fuel source at 50:1.
Then, in the maintenance manual, is a troubleshooting procedure for the oil system.
I might make a guess. If your battery isn't charging, fix that problem first, (after you add oil to the gas). The oil alert module doesn't like low voltage.
hope it helps
