I am getting ready to purchase some ignition parts most likely so thought I would research where to buy them etc. but keep seeing the same thing over and over so hoping someone can shed some light on why there are multiple part numbers listed for an individual part.
For example I want to get a power pack and stator as cost effective as possible (every penny counts) but when searching on Ebay I see parts with Multiple part numbers listed for the same item...where do people get these numbers and if my part is listed does that mean it will work?
Power Pack Example:
Ebay Title: Johnson Evinrude Outboard Power pack 581404, 582262, 583037, 583041, 583101
Description:
This is a good used Johnson Evinrude Power Pack
OEM Part numbers 581404, 582262, 583037, 583041, 583101, 583102, 583103, 583336, 763797
Fits 1986-1987 88-100-110-120-140-275-300hp 4/8 cylinder engines
Stator Example:
Ebay Title: Johnson Evinrude Outboard 1985-1987 120-140hp stator P/N 583013, 583118, 583669
Description: part number is 583013, 583118, 583669
Next Question is About CDI Replacements...
From CDI's website I see my part number: 113-3101
Replaces all of these:
581404, 582262, 583037, 583041, 583101, 583102, 583103, 583336, 763797, 18-5892, 9-25023
So when looking for USED parts..or NOS (new old stock) does that mean I can USE ANY of those part numbers?
I have heard the wire lengths may be the only difference...but if they are long enough should I be fine?
I may get people saying to just use the exact same part number as what is listed (listed where would be a good question as well)..but figuring this stuff out is important to me not only for the savings but so I can know what I could possibly use in a bind etc.
Thank you.
