I need a stereo and four new 6.5" speakers.
I haven't looked into stereos much yet...as far as speakers go...I can't swing the JL Audio's. I'd like to stay around $200 for all four. I've been looking at the Rockford Fosgate M262 and the MB Quart NJF116. The Fosgates are about $240 for four and the MB's are only $120 for four. Should the price of the MB's tell me they're junk?
Any other suggestions?
How about a stereo?

The RF's are good speakers, MB's haven't been the same since they sold out years ago. To be honest, my past 2 boats have Alpine M600s in them and they sound really good for the money. Powered by the deck sound clean and loud, and currently running JL M700/5 amp to them and still sound excellent for the cost.

I went the JL route, but I heard the RF's are pretty good. What about Kicker?

I went with the Sony CDXH910UI head unit with wired remote. Looking back, I probably should have gotten the Clarion or Fusion because they have a better remote functionality , however, the Sony is decent head unit.

Yeah, I've also been considering these:
2 Pairs Kicker 11KM6204W 6" Marine Boat 2 Way Speakers 4 Ohm White Grilles | eBay

I like the price but I'm not sure of the quality?
I really like the look of the fosgates.

I'm strongly considering the clarion with a wired remote. What model clarion do you like?

You didnt mention if you were installing a amp.......... I would seriously consider adding a descent amp....Unless you only intend on listing
to the stereo while sitting around and not under way....

IMO a descent head unit and speakers will sound pretty dang good while sitting in the garage..... but out on the water under way you are likely to be disappointed....

Best speakers for the money, hands down.

Polk DB651 or Infinity 612M. Had both. Excellent speakers for the money. Skip the MB Quart speakers. Stereo = Fusion (if you can afford it)

I went with the Jensen MS2013BTR ($174, shipped from ebay vendor). Great stereo, nice modern features and is water proof (there's a youtube video where they sales rep douses it with a hose, it keeps working) Bluetooth connection to your BT enabled phone/mp3 player can also play direct from ipod/mp3/flashdrive. No CD, but not a requirement for me. Can be linked with a wired remote if wanted for like $50. I also got 4 of the Kicker 11KM6LW w/ LED back light ($150, shipped from ebay vendor), they sound great, look awesome!

Here's the deck and one speaker (lower right hand side)

CMD7 or 8 with the MW1 remote. My older unit was a Clarion with the wired remote but wasn't MP3 compatible.

I like your Key Float! Great idea!!!!

This is second one...anytime we find a fishing lure on the beach, I pull the hooks off and they make great key chain fobs...I have one on my beer opener in my camper. I don't think they float, so I have to be cautious!

Re: Help me choose some 6.5" speakers and a stereo...please.

Hey guys thanks for all the help...much appreciated!
I think I've decided to go this route:
Clarion CMD8 or Clarion M303

M303_3_19-46842_478x247.jpg

Rockford Fosgates M262

Now I just need to find a good 4 channel amp.

Can't go wrong with JL Audio's AMP. I have the M400/4. It's very efficient, small and the sound is clean. Also, their support is second to none.
The key is to be sure and run the correct sized power cables. 4awg is recommended for both + & -.

I went with the Clarion CMD6 and Fosgate M282's. Only replaced factory so far - no amp yet, they sound great. Looking to upgrade this spring with amp, sub and M262's up front
