I took my 1993 Mercury 115 two stroke out yesterday and the battery was completely dead. I jumped it with the truck and the motor ran perfectly.
Went out on the water, and after an hour it stalled will I was idling and when I went to start it again, absolutely no juice in the battery. Had to get it jumped again while on the water.
This is the second time that I have been out this year and I had no problems with it the first time. Battery was bought new last May, so only a year old.
My obvious thought is that it is an alternator problem. How do I check if the alternator is working?
Also, I had the battery disconnected over the winter and put it back in myself and I am wondering if it is possible that I didn't connect it properly? Does the cable from the alternator need to be attached a certain way?
One other thing, all of the accessaries work; radio, trim ect. but the speedo isn't, which it was before.
I am literally dead in the water, so any help would be appreciated.
