:confused:I just replaced the gimbal bearing in my boat. I am running a gen 2 alpha. before the out drive was pulled everything worked as it should. Now when I start the engine i hear a noise from the lower unit like it is partially in gear and the prop turns more than usual in neutral. It shifts into forward but makes a little more noise than i think it should. When I try to shift into reverse it is difficult and the engine stalls. if I have the engine shut off and put it in reverse i can turn the prop in both directions. I made sure that it was in forward when removing and installing the drive and made sure everything lined up when going back in. Somebody please tell me what you think may be wrong before i continue pulling the rest of my hair out.

Re: HELP!!! No reverse Engine Stalls

and you are sure that the prop was locked in the ccw position when you reinstalled the drive? and the shift shaft was locked in the forward position also. and that that the roller was inthe fork assembly correctly. You are gonna have to remove the drive again and make sure all the above are done correctly.

Good Luck and Happy Boating

Re: HELP!!! No reverse Engine Stalls

I pulled the drive back off and found that the plastic guide tube that sticks out of the end of the shift cable had broken off and it was causing the cable to bind up.....Nothing that $75.00 and a few hours couldn't fix. Just glad it wasn't anything major. Thanks for the advice I am sure you guys will be hearing from me again.
