Help on putting halves back together...

I have an older Minn Kota bow mount motor, and the directional steering motor
went on it. Being monkey inclined, I took it apart, and was able to determine
that the little motor was froze up. It would get voltage from both directions,
but wouldn't turn. So, I ordered a new motor, and wired it up, and it works fine.
That is, the motor turns, but I am having a problem getting the two halves
of the steering box back together. There are about 6 pins that need to mesh,
and the drive for the steering needs to mesh.

Is there a special sequence or process that needs to be followed to get this
back together? Anybody done this before?

Re: Help on putting halves back together...

I guess I'll answer my own question, as I'm lucky to be able to do that.

I found that the steering box had to come completely off of the shaft to put
it back together. That was really no big deal, as the top has a few screws and
two wires that come apart. After the steering box was off of the shaft, I could
put it on a work bench, line up the pins, and it went right back together.
The nylon gears all looked brand new, and it works fine. If this lasts another
few years, it will have been more than worth it, and I'll buy another MK.
