Re: Help! Twin 1990 200 Yamaha's

OK I have searched and searched and there is no trim sensors. However there is a large black box mounted under the dash beside the key switches. One for each keyswitch. What would this be for? I have also spoke with someone else at a Marina and he said to check the Amperage coming from the oil pump. He has seen it where the oil pump was drawing to many amps and prematurily(sp) failing control units. However I have done this and read only .5 A on both engines. Does any body know what should eb there? He said 2A. Ray you said a improperly installed oil sensor in the cap will cause this. I think I got it hooked up right but what do i need to look for?

in 1990 the system changed on the v6 from a seperate module with a mercury switch to a system that incorperated the oil control module into the engine computer. excessive current draw is the normal failure. but with the incorperated system it must have a trim sender. the module used a mercury switch the CDI incorperated one used the trim sender to disable oil transfer. if its not working you should have no transfer. look for a 2003 marine technical guide. it will have about all the info ya need on precision blend on a 1990 V6 2.6L motor.
