I need a little help.

Last fall I removed and took apart my Alpha One gen One outdrive. The water pump and impeller were removed at the time. I do remember the impeller was twisted in one direction with the fins bending back. I don't remember which direction.

First question: Which way should the impeller spin when It's put into back in the water pump housing?

Second question: When the lower and upper are reassembled, how do I know the upper and lower shift shafts are lined up in the forward position?

Next time I will take pictures of stuff before I take it apart.

Thanks a bunch!!

Holy schmoly i just did this. Answer to question one. If its anything like my one drive R. You dont have to worry about the direction because i had to slide the impeller down the shaft over the key and then had to lower the housing on top of the spread fins and with soapy water in the housing turn the shaft in a clock wise direction. If you follow the directions you shouldnt care what direction the fins go.

Second question. once again if its anything like the r drive i just did. You have to set the shaft that looks like an inch of grooved shaft in the lower i think rotated as far as it goes to the right that will lock the prop. Then lower the top half onto it so when its together the upside down L looking part faces forward and turns to the left.

I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong, or i am on the wrong drive.

Rotate the prop shaft to the left as you slide the pump housing over the impeller. Remember the impeller will allways rotate in the same direction, provided of course you have a standards rotating outdrive.

Rotate the prop shaft to the left as you slide the pump housing over the impeller.

It would be a LOT easier if you turn the vertical shaft instead of the prop shaft, and turn it clockwise while pushing the water pump housing onto the impeller.

Please start a new thread with your question, there are several options, and there is no reason to hijack cptnmcluvin's post with your question and answers.
