Re: help with valves,i think
2800 you could have bought a professionally rebuilt long block. I am sorry you are going through this. Stop with your friend/mechanic. I am sure he means well but I fear there may be damage done if the valves hit the pistons. You said you couldn't afford the 'good guys' yet you pumped 2800.00 into it. I'd say at this point you cannot afford to NOT use the good guys. You pulled the dipstick, saw no oil, filled it, now its 10 quarts... Wrong dipstick and tube, and/or wrong oil pan. Or possibly just your boat in a 35 degree slanted driveway in which case pull the wheel chocks and let it all fly down into the street.. wait better not. Look, this is not a stereo. This is completely different and like they say you are not a mechanic, not even close. No insult intended, just the facts ma'am. You need on site help. You can try the manual and asking questions here but somewhere along the line you'll translate something wrong and it won't turn out good. Very easy to make a costly mistake. That said, good luck. I'll be reading this with interest I do hope it works for you.
