Re: Help!
1) Spun hub. Marking the hub as posted a few back, and trying another prop can confirm this
2) Major failure in the lower unit. Doesn't really sound like that
3) Ventilation. Which I don't see mentioned here.
Ventilation is when the prop starts grabbing air off the hull/surface. Will spin up wildly, and won't go anywhere in extreme examples. This can be caused by motor height, irregularities in the bottom, bad prop design for that hull, and some other issues. Maybe the mechanic already looked at the motor height? Also, a water logged boat will still accelerate, it may not plane, but it will at least try. If it is revving up high, then waterlogged or not, there are other issues. If it just won't exceed a certain RPM and pushes a big bow wave, and makes a big wake, and just won't get out of it's own way, but is not revving up wildly, then this could be waterlogged plus too much pitch, or even low power.
Sounds like it revs up. Right? If it does then there a few causes:We put it in today when we get much over idle barely going it feels like it is slipping out of gear. Won't push boat to raise bow at all.
