Re: Here it is

I was thinking that. But I think I can get a lot of the cosmetic stuff done ( thanks to this forum) while I get the mechanic working on the egine. My only delima is I don't want to get going on that then end up I can't get the engine fixed.

Re: Here it is

I would would pull the engine, and work on the cosmetics and the engine simultaneously. That's what I'm doing, I find that sometimes I have small blocks of time that I can do small things to the engine. Other times, I have a large amount of time where I can get really dirty doing the cosmetics (e.g., grinding fiberglass).

I also liked what a previous post said, when you get frustrated with doing one you can focus on the other.

Welcome to the joy of boat restoration -- it's rewarding no doubt.

And I'm still just a peon cadet! haha (in more ways than one)

Re: Here it is

first, go back an edit your post and resize your pictures. you first need to make the boat safe, hull, and engine. the you do cosmetics.

Re: Here it is

in process of sanding all the wood features. Swim platform, cabin door, and all trimming.Gooing to sand seal then coat with poly. Then it poors. Going to start on the cabin were I can stay dry. Already have the idea for the cabin got off my friends sailboat. Going to put a piece of ply straight across where the head would go. Then it will be a flat surface. ( loose a little storage can put things in but no quick access). Then get foam piece cutr to size and cover. Definatly something really soft like the really soft fleece blankets somthing like that. Then I will have a nice area to sleep and relax. Think I'm going to go with two captians chairs on pedastels then maybe bench seats on the sides. Can anyone give me an idia how to get the radio out? IU think it cam with the boat and is in the fiberglass. Any good way to cut it out? Back to work post when I'm done in a few hours.

Whats the easiest way to clean the deck and the outside?

I use some bleach maybe 1/4 cup for a gallon of water its like a magic wand for that black stuff! few minutes later its white again.

Re: Here it is

Today: got piece of ply in cabin. Cleaned ... ahhhhh white and smooth again!!!! Sanded cabin door and all trim going to get some sealer a little later. Hopewfully the rain stays away. removed some hardware going to clean outside, then start on the deck. Steel wool all the windows... yea glad I used to have to get rail dust off ferraris.... good trick . Found that this orange cleaner works like a dream. need to take some pics but I think I might have a plugged drain hole or something. water is collecting under the deck. I will get some pics in a few.
