I am not sure either, but if I can figure a way to store the excess thats probably what I will do and buy a new no feedback system for the 18

Hull is stripped, cleaned, degreased, ready to flip for sanding.

Nice & quick, good deal! No moss growing on you or this rig, which w/ this build schedule is a good thing.

Solo flip in or out of the hanger?

ignorance speaking here, it you have a steering cable 2' longer than needed can't you put a loop in it somewhere? It's made to bend corners...

Yes, it's made to bend around corners, but a loop makes steering stiff and unbalanced one way or the other because the internal drag is increased. Also a loop aggravates wear of the cable lining which makes it stiff and notchy.

Here we go, the laborious part that I hate sanding. Its hard to remember that the whole quality of a paint job is based entirely on the prep work we all know the drill feather all knicks dings dents and scratches if you can feel them with your hand you will see them in the paint.

The worst part is where the stickers were.

The paint on this one is in way worse shape than my 18' the hull is in decent shape though.

I am going to save money this time, I am going to buy self etching primer by the quart I am going to do the whole hull in it and then shoot it all with high build primer after. I can get a quart for about $20 locally or I will buy the rattle cans for about $8 each.

The hull looks fairly ding-free, Sig.

More sanding today, almost done, got bored with the sanding. Started getting the shop ready to throw some paint.

I mean lets be honest with ourselves here. I haven't actually scrubbed the shop floors since ohhhh right before I painted the 18'SS and its in no condition to paint.

Re: Here we go with the 16ss

Well Jb I view it this way, 1/2 of a good looking paint job is in the prep work, 1/4 of the job is the environment and equipment used to lay the paint, and the other 1/4 is actually laying the paint, so I am just counting this as paint work time.

I guess technically since I did some sanding, and I pulled the rubrail insert and rubrail today, I did do some boat work.

I finally beat my rubrail demons, and got both sides out without breaking any of it.

Re: Here we go with the 16ss

Here is the scary part. I spent $550 on the boat. The admiral called this morning and said I have a 10% off coupon to Lowes but it expires today. So needless to say I hooked the trailer up and off I went the total bill $532.34:facepalm:.
Includes all plywood flotation foam all paint supplies except hardener and cups for the gun. Carpet and glue. Almost everything but a few little odds and ends. Hopefully she is gonna look great everything is exterior grade or better whoever ends up with this boat is going to end up with a quality product. Cleaning the shop yesterday I found all new lower unit seals, and a brand new unopened johnnyrude fuel pump rebuild kit.

I have never ever in all my life ever said this but my mother in law is coming to stay with us next week so progress is going to be hot and heavy and hopefully pic intense.

Sig --- I totally missed this and then lol!!! Man not the visions I wanted to have there!

Yup--- $$$ man.... I think I am into it for around $700 bucks and still have another $600 for vinyl and flooring! Yikes... but really in the grand scheme of things, it ain't so bad. You should still be well under your selling price if things stay in check!
