it ain't just the paint. that's some seriously good surface prep underneath. old adage among kustom car and hotrod builders is "don't paint it gloss black unless it's PERFECT". gloss black shows every gnat fart.

beyoootiful.

In my sleep deprived & fogged headed state, it looks great. After a few more hours of sleep I'm sure it'll look even better.

Yep, as noted elsewhere, and for even more reasons, the projected asking price just went up another tic or 2...

Looks fantastic Sig... nice work there! It almost looks "naked" in a couple of bow pics vs painted...

Thanks everyone. You all are very correct I am a very firm believer that at minimum 80 % of the paint job quality is surface prep. Its time consuming as all get out but the end result is well worth it. Also I painted the 18 ss with a 21 gallon 2 hp this one painted w the 60 gallon was nice.

I do believe the gloss black was bold but there isnt another one in my area that is this nice.

Gonna be a few days before another update have seriously tweaked my back.

Was it working on the boat that it happened nope

Changing all the fluids nope.

Doing home maintenance nope

It happened changing the toddlers diaper

Diapers are bad news. In more ways than one, as you found out. Get better, Sig.

Nice paint job! Your hard work with the surface prep really shows off nice with the gloss black. Once you go black.....(you know the rest)

Yeah, that black looks great. I'd be psyched as a potential buyer to see that hull.

Very nice paint job. Man you sure have crammed a pile of work in a short time. A serious rest period is in order.

Re: Here we go with the 16ss

let me see if I get this right:

- both feet greater-than shoulder-width apart

-- left-hand on securing the toddler on the changin' table (or workbench)

--- right-arm full extended --- behind your back --- for those baby-wipes that 2" longer than your reach!

Hope it feels better Sig! We don't want to slow-down your pace!

Luckily I work a desk job, so I rest at work. I am hoping to be back at it tomorrow but it sure sucks flipping a boat when the back is hurt but I may try to go ahead and pull the 75 hp evinrude and start prepping it for paint.

Must have been one of the extra loaded diapers.:blue:

Rest well and let the paint harden a little. Nice work.:)

I think I am going to use some deep red cherry accent wood on this one and it will blend very nicely with the black.

Re: Here we go with the 16ss

Thanks B2 onward we go since trying to destroy my 18' figured I would give everyone a slight update.

She is now right side up again and on the roller trailer.

The rivets in the stringers had pretty much given up the ghost I am pretty sure she has been gutted for a long time.

Today all the old loose and weak rivets in the stringers got drilled and replaced with new shiny 3/16" rivets.

Then because I have found it is SOOO much easier to work on them when you have something to stand on. I started on this.

A flat, temp floor is required. I found that out the hard way too. Much easier on the back too. And the knees!

Red Cherry accent wood, huh? Are you going for max profit or what? :D
