UH Capt, with the pics I gave you can you jus maybe draw an arrow to point me in the direction of the nut im supposed to remove please? Im guessing its the one under the black box with the wires?

Put the black box back together except not the long center bolts. then lift the entire black box off of the tilt mech. Then unscrew #4 in the link. Keep in mind there are parts inside that cover, a big spring and some bearings and lots of grease. Keep them in order. Now Go!!

ok I got the black box off, slid it to the side, and I started loosening the shaft, now do I completely unscrew that shaft?

When you say shaft, I assume your talking about the the tilt mech top cover. Yes, unscrew it and lift it off carefully. With any luck the grease in the cover will hold all the parts in place.

ok Capt I unscrewed number 4, took out the spring, flat washer,bearing race, and left in number 20 that long screw thing

yep she has what appears to be brand new grease in there which held everything togather

Once you have the cover off you'll be able to see the shaft. If the spring and the bearings didn't come off with the cover they will be sitting around the large threaded rod.

At his point you should be able to pull up on the rod. it does not turn, just pull it up. Did it come up a little?

Once you have gotten it pulled up, You will need to screw part #6 in the link down, this should hold the rod up and off the outdrive. Replace the tilt parts and cover and the black box.

ya, give it a tug. If it won't move, go push down gently on the outdrive.

Ok I jus pulled up on the rod and its now seated, but that outdrive prop rod which is affixed to my outdrive now wont let the drive seat all the way, do I jsu take it off or worry about that after I button up the stuff we just took off?

Yeah for sure lol, I just have always liked the classic lines of the early boats and I got her for real cheap from the dead gentlemens daughter when he passed away, he was the original owner and only has 200 hours on it. But yeah its prolly a pig on the water haha
