you know what I dont understand, if that drive has to be all the way locked down, then what good is that trim box anyways? I mean you cant trim it out while your driving across the lake right?

Re: Hey guys can I take my boat out with my current tilt issue?

Capt I twisted the ends off of two of my husky flatheads that screw on the top of the outdrive is way way tight, I jus hit it with some wd40 to see if that helps

I know what you mean. When I first got my boat I broke a screwdrive as well. In the end I ended up pounding a large washer into the slot and used a vise grip or something to turn the wash. Most would recommend an impact screwdriver, but I don't have one.

This is where you challenge your mechanical creativity. Go cool off a bit.

You've had a productive day none the less.

Ok Capt I just got the screw cracked, the oil looks brand new, and it's right up to where it should be on the dipstick, no contamination whatsoever, the oil looks brand new:D:D

Thats great news.

Now, check the impeller and confirm the alternator is working and your good to go.

Well, I don't know....

Pickup on the transum was busted off when I got it and I'm still saving for a GPS.

Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have one or borrow one.

With a new prop I believe I could do 50, maybe 52 on a good day. Who knows.

I tell the kids we're doing 80.:eek:D:eek:

I'll bet your boat would do low 40's. What prop are you running?

By the way, I think there is a Hawaiian for sale right down the road from me.

Its a Jet boat and looks like the smaller ones. It seems they switched to all jet boats around 1979. I'll have to stop and look. Just dawned on me.

:) HAH you tell'm 80 eh I wish I could get this thing to 80 , Capt the old man who owned the boat kept everything way WAYYYY stock :) he didnt change out anything with a performance part, she still has the stock 3 blade prop, is that a crappy prop?? dude they all switched to jet in 79'? really? I wonder why that was, and yeah man if you see that Hawaiian take some pics if you can I love all the classic older boats plus I dont see many Hawaiians around in my city all that much.

pffft james bond haha I dont think of mine that way at all, everyone on the lake has the $40thousand dollar plus power boats , Im happy with what I have tho I'm a starving student with bills this boat and the others I have will keep my busy for quite some time, plus if I find a 28 ft like that one I showed you Ill do my best to grab it thats what I really want.

Yours is tight tho man that looks like a light boat I wish mine was a open cuddy like urs so much more space to use, how much did you pay for yours when you picked her up??

Actually I think a three blade, stainless would be the best for that boat.

My boat was originally and AQ225 (chevy 305). The previous owner put in the 350. Its the easiest repower there is. Don't think about trying to repower yours, It is its own animal all together.

What carb do you have on you engine?

It is a light, cheaply built boat, but it serves all my purposes. If you only boat in good weather than an open bow is the only way to go. Seems like most boats over 20ft are cuddy's.

Why is that b/c it's 351 w powered? Yeah even if this engine blew up id just get a replacement 351 Im not going to try and stick anything else in it I wonder why it doesnt have a BB Ford tho

O yes I put a new edelbrock 650 on it and yup its a automobile carb :D its runs exc way better than it did with that marine holley it had on it

There is absolutly nothing wrong with the ford, its just that it was only used for two years. Its the parts that bolt on that are unique. Your right, you'd just want another 351.

260 hp was the horsepower rating for these 350's with Qjet carbs.

Yours would have been an aq240 rated at 225 HP, but I'm not sure they had four barrels carbs. What did you pull off yours?

Re: Hey guys can I take my boat out with my current tilt issue?

Mine says 240HP on the valve covers, but the carb was the original 650 cfm holley old school carb but it had seen better days and was flooding out the engine so I had a brand new edelbrock laying in the garage and bolted it on and dude she's sweet now:D

yeah thats what my Dynasty has a 260 horse 350 looks like a vortec engine that boat runs strong on the water I hope this ford runs just as well I hoped when I lifted the engine covers on the Hawaiian it was chevy powered I was iffy on buying it with a ford but I just took my chances with it anyway

Oh and it had a 4bbl so I replaced it with the edelbrock 4bbl
