When we're in a state of mind that presents an angry, condesending, or argumentative post, we all need to take five and return to the keyboard with better thoughts.

Ahh, a perfect lead-in to another thread - how does everyone relieve stress. I usually blast off a few rounds at the rifle range. Click of the finger, shove to the shoulder, boom - stress reduced. Repeat as necessary. As April 15th approaches, I'll be a frequent visitor to the range.

.... Having said that, there isn't one of us, myself included that hasn't typed exactly whats on our mind at one time or another. A day or two later, you re-read that post and cringe. You wish you could take it back, but its too late...

Guilty as charged.... :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanks, it went great!

VERY flat day, lots of debris from the rivers that feed the Chesapeake. Got plenty of sun and had a blast.

Scott, don't change a thing.

You have character. THAT'S A GOOD THING.

Kind of rare these days.

You and I butted heads once or twice but I enjoyed it.:)

I love you man.:D

Right back at you Brian! A good debate is mentally stimulating, however, I am trying to remove the insulting aspect ;)

Re: Hi, my name is Scott...

People who find it difficult to change cannot see themselves as others see them. Eliminating poor attitudes and behavior is impossible if we can;t recognize it, I can't throw the trash out if I can't see it.

When we can see our faults then its a lot easier, especially if its something we no longer accept.

Going public with amends is a very powerfull technique for cutting our ego down to size. Personally I say its the only way, trying to merely act better is just an act that will wear thin.

American Psychologist William James said "spiritual awakenings tend to be of the educational variety" in his book "varieties of spiritual awakenings".
I think thats what you just experienced.

Keep the faith.

Re: Hi, my name is Scott...

and I want to apologize for my abrasive way of "debating" around here. I'm trying to improve my life in quite a few ways. I'm trying to get in better shape physically. I am trying to be much more aggressive in my wealth building, and last, but certainly not least, I am trying to be NICER! It's hard, but I am trying to think before I type.

Those of you that I have made bad or mean remarks to, I am sorry. To the mods who do a great job around here, I am sorry.

I will do my best to behave, and stay out of potential conflicts on the board.

I hope everyone has an amazing boating season this year, and a Happy Easter tomorrow!

oh man don't go getting all mushy on us now. next thing you'll want a hug.......yuck.

LOL best of luck with the new you.

Well this goofball has a bone to pick with you......

Nah, just kidding..... I've read many of your posts and have never been insulted or offended.

I think we all come across a little rough around the edges at times and self awareness is the key to changing this behaviour. Good on you Scott....

One question though? Do you find you're more mellow and relaxed during boating season than during the season? Perhaps the doc can prescribe you "Take to rides, submit your posts the next morning":D:D

I know I'm a much more relaxed (as I'm sure this entire community is) when I'm out floating without a care in the world.

I'd like to hold Scott "100' below" Just kidding . . . You are a good guy Scott for recognizing your forum nature. Comes with the anonymity combined with our passions. LadyFish always has the best suggestions. She's kind of like a Blonde Den Mother . . . Not sure how that's different than a regular Den Mother, but use your imagination . . . I am so screwed :D

Re: Hi, my name is Scott...

Hey Scott,

For what it is worth:

On another forum I frequent ( tractors- NOT boats;)) there was a guy who had just a ton of knowledge and shared it in many , many posts that were sometimes in excess of a page, for 1 reply no less. History, model interchanges, you name it. He would call a spade a spade and did not mince words ( or so it seemed, but I am sure he edited out a lot of his inner thoughts) In his responses , it was sometimes hard to tell if he was insulting people or just calling it like he saw it. I guess quite a few people there have thin skin.

He was both a boon and a bane to the site. Members got a wealth of information through him and on the flipside the mods got a lot of complaints about him. It came the point that they had to ask him to be nice or leave. He chose to leave.

Then there was a big outcry about where he went. OMG, umpteen pages of where/ how / who made this happen, as in to banish him. It was eventually brought out that it was his choice.

Glad you are making the choice to be more positive, but never give up your backbone.
