Just wanted to thank everyone here for their help in suggestions on my overheat issue with my 2000 M/C 5.0 with a bravo 3
After changing the manifolds and elbows, Mercruiser impeller kit, Checked the Heat Exchanger for blockage (none) Removed and replaced the Thermostat and nothing helped. So this weekend I installed a 1 1/2 Through Hull Sea Water pick up and Tee'd it into the existing water pick hose from the transome. I took it out last night and ran it hard for a while and it stayed on 160 Solid! It was really lacking water due to Bravo-itis, the closing of the intake hose.

Thanks again!

Can't remember your thread on this but it sounds like the drive water pickup is clogged with corrosion/debris/barnacles etc....

I have a FULL closed cooled 454/Bravo using only the drive water pick-up and it maintains normal temp at WOT in 85 degree F water.

I would have probably would have went to a thru-hull too if the drive was clogged!

Glad you got it fixed!

Regards,

Rick
