Failproof and Don

After hours of troubleshooting and pulling out my hair I finally found my problem! It was a 15 amp fuse located on the back of the engine it was well hidden. Failproof tell your friend thanks a lot because I was about to take it to a repair shop that would have cost me serverl hundred dollars! Again Don thanks for all the troubleshooting tips and ideas and sorry it took me so long to find the problem.

I still have another problem which was my orignal problem so do I need to talk about it on here or open another thread?

You REALLY need to post some pictures of that fuse, and where it is. You have a newer engine that has no information on the internet for.
It has to start somewhere, and you can be the one with first pictures and what to look for.

I think I will do cuz it will save someone a ton of time and frustration. I'm going to start a new thread about my carb problem. I got some questions.

Here is some pictures that might help some one find a hidden 15 amp fuse on a 2008 mercruiser 4.3

Photo 1 you will see an arrow pointing behind the spark plugs photo1.jpg

Photo 2 is a little better view off behind the engine and spark plugs and the fuse is right behind the spark plugs but a little lower than them if you feel you will feel a little black box with a blue top.photo2.jpg

You may or may not be able to see the box once you locate it but it has a snap off top just like the ones you will find alll over the motor, but here is what it looks like photo3.jpg

If any one has any questions let me know....

And shops all over just loving that hidden fuse, 5 min fix making them hours of diagnostic time. And that fuse holder looks like any other weatherpack connector. Very well hidden.

So we decide whether this was a factory mercruiser fuse or not?

I'm still trying to comprehend how you could have a blown fuse, yet still have power to the ignition switch and the purple wires from the switch with your test light. And why the engine started when you probed the yellow wire on the switch and it started the engine.
Sure wish there was wiring diagrams available for these newer engines. Mercruiser has obviously found a new way to screw it's customers.

If you don't know I sure don't haha... Only thing I could think is maybe I was not grounding my light the proper way? If I get a little bot of extra time I can take some pictures and draw up a color code wireing diagram if you think it will help someone..

I would like to see a picture of your test light, and a picture of where you had the test light wire hooked when you checked the yellow wire and the engine started. That would explain a LOT.
There are all kinds of test lights, and hooking up to what you thought was a ground but wasn't could explain a lot of the problems.
