Hi all,
Im new to iboats and I have an issue, Surprise right! I have a 2000 Merc 50 that was putting out like 50 to 112 volts. I bought what was supposed to be a new regulator/rectifier off ebay. I installed it and nothing has changed, still super high voltage. Am I missing something?

Where are you measuring that voltage?

What type of meter are you using?

Re: *high voltage*

well...this is a case of placing false trust in a tool . I have a blue point multi meter that cost alot. but when I checked it with 2 cheaper meters, they both said 14.5 volts, they same as the voltmeter on my dash. I just dont understand why my expensive meter reads right without the engine running but wrong when it is running. By the way voltage was checked at the battery

Re: *high voltage*

I have a meter that does the same thing. Reads fine with the motor off but goes crazy with the motor running. My other meter works fine in both cases. Must be some kind of electrical interference where one meter is affected and the other immune.

I've got a Fluke with a built in DVA and it does the same thing if I put the lead in the high voltage port and try to read RMS voltages.

What model as I have been looking for one with the built in DVA, all I can find built in is the analog meters.

It's a military version I'll see if it has a number on it that corresponds to anything civilian. I acquired it, err requisitioned it, err yeah, that's how I got it. Anyway, it's a 1980's vintage.
