Re: Hip-Hop Hassle

I know someone with a SeaRay wakeboard boat. He's got those rear aimed speakers. He was bragging about how loud the music is back behind the boat when he's on the board. When I asked him about his music bothering other people he said "It's all about me". I swear it's true.

On the same lake there's a big sand bar on the upper end. Lots of folks beach their boats there and hang out. Just about every time I've been there someone is blasting Lynyrd Skynyrd. Nobody has the nerve to complain as the sand bar is on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochee.:D

Like I said, he's been good, but it is beyond STUPID to have speakers on a tower faced backwards so that everyone on the water can hear you while you board.

It is not stupid, it is there for the person that is in the water to listen to the music and skate/wake/tube or whatever, to the tune of the music. I dont do any of the above. I either go fishing or go swimming and in occasions tubing.
My stereo is probably not more than 40 watts (10 per speaker).

Freedom to listen to what ever you want. That's a wonderful thing about our great country.

Freedom to do things and have certain lifestyles that suit the individual.

Unfortunately some folks have the need to force their personal freedoms or lifestyles on others that may or may not be interested or care to be enlightened by same...........that's where the second amendment comes in handy.

2nd amendment does not protect anyone from a court procedure when someone misuse a firearm.

I have to say that on my home lake people play loud music but it is NO WHERE NEAR as loud as the race boats that fly back and fourth. They are ear splitting. It is the same on land with Harley's and trucks with straight pipes and glass packs. The engine noise is FAR louder than any music I've ever heard.

What bothers me is when someone pulls up into a cove and cranks music FILLED with foul language, it's just poor taste and low class to do that in a place where small children frequent.

to rearrange an old saying, "your right to listen to music ends where my eardrums begin."

It's all a matter of degree. I don't mind the occasional race boat any more than the occasional Harley on the road; they're kinda cool, but not if it is a constant roar. Music in the distance is OK but not as if it were in my space--and that includes the infuriating over-bass.

Cat,
I am having the same trouble only its not on the water...its the new hod rat neighbors. Up until tis past Friday night they would party till all hours of the morning. There subwoofers were so loud it would litrally rattle my wifes nick nacks on the book shelf in the livingroom. I went over and asked a couple times if they could turn it daown and got the "If its to loud, your to old saying"

SOOOO.....I went to Best by and bought an new system for my little Isuzu Trooper. New CD player, amps, speakers, subwoofers... the works. 3000 watts of new works. Installed it on Saturday morning and afternoon.

Then when all the hood rats showed up next door to drink, smoke dope, and play loud rap music I went out popped in some old time country. Hank Sr, Pattsy Kline, George Jones......all the good ones.

I cranked it up ans loud as it would go and left it. About 2 hours later their knocking on the door asking if I could turn it down. I told the lead hood rat that I will keep it down if they keep theres down.

So far we have a truce and piece and quite in the neighborhood

hows the setup look in a trooper? ive been considering putting one in to **** off my miserable lesbian neighbors.

It is not only stupid, it thoughtless, careless, foolish, dangerous, and potentially very expensive to have the stereo up so loud that someone can hear it not just at the end of a tow rope over the exhaust of the motor, but at the other end of the lake. Talk to a doctor about what loud noise does to your ears. Bet the people on board can't communicate effectively either. Pretty sure the regs say something about the spotter communicating with the operator.....BTW any law enforcement will do something if enough people complain. The rusty wheel gets the oil. Cell phones can be wonderful thing, now you don't have to wait to get home to do something.

Re: Hip-Hop Hassle

Had a neighbor jerk do the loud music thing to me every night between about 1 and 4 am.

An hour of Jerry Fallwell at 6 am, full blast, speakers turned to the wall did the trick.

In the be careful what you pray for category:

We were camping at a state campground in Oklahoma (red clay) one week, and Tuesday night a car full of kids came into the parking lot above our campsite and played their rap for an hour or so.

The next night, my 6 year old prayed that God would prevent that from recurring.

It thunderstormed all night, about 9 inches worth. It's hard to rest when your face goes underwater if you doze. The only one that stayed dry was the 6 month old. His small sleeper on a relatively large air matress was his Arc.

I have to say, I have yet to hear any music coming from the many ski boats I came across this past week up north. My thought is that the up north lakes are a little tamer than the in town lakes.

CAT sorry to hear that you've got some annoying boaters, like mentioned the price of liberty is dealing with others excercising their freedoms as well:eek:

Better to bee free than under tyranny though:D

I avoid these situations by going to places with muddy non-docked landing where only fishermen/kayakers/canoes launch:cool: I like little AM/FM radios that you can hear Ernie Harwell calling the Tigers ballgame or classic rock at very low volume so as to not drown out the natural sounds and what have you.

Since you have so many lakes over there are you going to start avoiding this one in particular or is the fishing top-knotch enough to keep it in the rotation?

I'm guessing you wouldn't be dealing with this for no good reason there must be walleye in that lake;)

Re: Hip-Hop Hassle

In central Oklahoma where I live, every spoiled little rich punk has a damned wakeboard boat with a massive system. I play in a heavy metal band, so loudness doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the 15 drunk teenagers out on daddy's boat and not following a single boating law, and will freak out if you offer some "constructive critisim". The youth of today are just plain assholes.
