Yes what a game. Nail biter down to the end. I honestly thought that the US was going to give us a licking in the first two periods. But we came back. :D:D:D

Caught the last 15 min, OH crap it was a nail biter, hate that shoot out stuff, should be old school, play till you puke or drop, then the best team wins.

Re: Hockey fans....are you ready to bring it?

Ok, quick recap of that game last night.
Canada opened the scoring in that game but after that, the U.S tied things up and led all the way half way through the third period 4-2 playing very well. Two of the U.S goals were scored while they were shorthanded.....nice stuff!!
The U.S took it to our boys with a lot of pressure the whole game with a lot of checking and that coupled with a lot of turnovers made it a very close game.
Mid way through the third Canada (finally) started to put their foot on the pedal and pick it up...enough so to tie up the game 4-4 with about 3 minutes left in regular time with their own short handed goal from Pietrangelo.
The announcers were joking (correctly) that Canada and the U.S alone could support a tournament if the games they played were like that one. No surprise because there is an excellent 'live' rivalry between these teams and it is always a guaranteed great, gritty, fast game.
Of no surprise is that over half a dozen players on both the U.S and Canada are team mates throughout the regular season so this enhances the rivalry when you are playing against your regular season buddies.
Regardless, things went into a 5 minute sudden death overtime with no score which then prompts a shoot-out...which is not the first time this has happened between the U.S and Canada.
Well all the shooters were potting goals and it came down to Schroeder from the U.S who tried the 'five hole' again (like his earlier short handed goal) and was shut down by the Canadian goalie...and it was all over.
Like Rob, I'm not a big fan of shoot-outs defining the end of a team sport but it supposedly expedites things on some level.
Now, this doesn't eliminate anybody from anything yet...including gold, silver or bronze medals. It just gives the winner a 'buy' into the semi-final round.
The U.S plays again tomorrow as a result of this game and goes against the Finland...which I think they will handily beat and move on to the medal round.
This means there is an excellent chance these teams will be playing again in a few days...but for one of the medals!!! Keep an eye out for it.
If you weren't or aren't a hockey fan and are able to catch this series...you will probably become one.
Its like having the opportunity to go see a great band just a year or so before they make it really big and you can say...hey I saw those guys in a smaller venue and they were great.
All good dudes!!! More to come;):)

I flipped between this game and the Canes/Rangers game. As with other sports, it's always great to see the extra intensity the younger players have versus the more seasoned pros.

U.S. gave the Canucks a good match. I didn't think the Canadians brought their "A" game. They made some costly mistakes. Thankfully they were able to make a late game recovery. Hopefully they will learn to play hard from the get go_One great game though!

Yep, Canada in a nailbiter !!! Great game, unfortunately I was at a New Years Eve party and di not see it live. Recorded it at home and watched yesterday, fortunately before I heard the score from anyone.
Found (hopefully) a decent stream from TSN for the final when I will be in Alabama. For anyone else that wants to watch but can not receive the game on TV try this link.
I will be using it today on my laptop even though I will be watching it on TV as well. Just to test it out for the final.

Go to the top right hand corner of the page and you will see the game stream links.

Lots of people watched it from Fenway. Many more of us watched from home! ;) In all, it was a good game. Was glad to see my other team win.

For the US fans, I just looked and found that the NHL network has the quarter final games listed today at 5 and 9. My wife is soooo tired of having hockey on the TV.

TSN says Tuesday the Bronze is at 4 and the Gold is at 7:30. NHL network shows the Bronze at 4 and the Gold medal game at 8. There are also a few rebroadcasts listed for each.

Re: Hockey fans....are you ready to bring it?

Well, the U.S beat Finland (as expected IMHO) 6-2 giving the U.S boys...or more correctly, young men? a immediate launch into the medal round starting over the next day or two and finishing on Tuesday.
I didn't see all the game, just the highlights and the U.S had some very nice goals...good on 'em, ...strong team.
Now, surprisingly Switzerland beat out Russia today, I believe eliminating them. Again...Switzerland beat out Russia......WTF? ....you never know, everyone is getting better all the time eh?
Ok, so tomorrow Canada takes on Switzerland....NOT the Russians....all right....lets have a go then!!!:D:D
Now remember hockey fans, keep your eyes on the prize!!!
With any luck (????) Canada and the U.S will meet again in the final...but NEVER forget the other VERY strong team in all of the this....the highly touted Swedes...whom like the Canadians, love this cold sport.
All good;):)
