I had my boat out for the first time this year yesterday. Aside from a bit of a reverse issue, which I have been battling for a couple of years since I got the motor running, it ran great. I still need to prop it correctly, but right now the tach is not working (most likely a bad rectifier). The motor also needs a bit of a tune-up.

We had a great time on the water. We were out for probably 2 hours, of which about 1/2 hour was spent just sitting in the lake with the engine off. We did a number of high speed runs, and a fair bit of just putting around.

Mrs. bh357 was the lovely camerawoman for the video. She was also happy that she got to go for a boat ride, as we've had the boat for a few years now, and it has been in the water once each of the past 2 years.

Hole Shot
Attn: dialup users. The file is 2.5MB in size.

The boat is a 1973 Larson XL5 (identical in design to the Larson designed Glasspar Catalina G3). The motor is a 1963 Merc 1000. The prop is a 17 pitch.

Subjectively, how would you rate the acceleration? This was with 2 people aboard (approximately 400lbs of people, gear, gas).
