How about them Cowboys?

As a lifelong fan of the 'boys, I am cautiously optimistic that what we got here is the real deal. Watching Romo disect Chicago last night was simply a thing of beauty and I predict they move deep into the playoffs this year.

So who out there loves/hates the Cowboys?

As much as I dislike the Cowboys, it is always nice to watch Duh B'ars get it in the end.:D

Go Packers! 3-0!

Dallas does look impressive but their defense looks a little shakey.

The Packers have surprised me, so much so, that I had wagered a bet this past Sunday, that they would beat the Chargers.

I've always been a 'boys' fan too.....especially back in the Tom Landry days. Back then, they were just a 'class act'.......aka America's Team. Since that time, the luster has dulled somewhat, but I still root for 'em. Although there are still some players in the NFL that play with class, for the most part, a bunch of them are nothing but over-paid thugs......and I hate to see that, but be that as it may. Anyway, I agree, apart from the first half, Romo did disect the Bears D in the 2nd half, with help from his line and receivers.........and just "maybe" this might be their year again.

I thought the first half was ugly, helped by a couple of very bad calls and a couple of non-calls by the Zebras.

Both Off and Def performed well in the second half, but the key to victory was the play calling and execution.

I am optimistic, too. If they can make a team as good as the Bears look bad they must be doing some stuff right.

Re: How about them Cowboys?

I grew up a Cowboys fan despite my CA roots. Loved the Landry, Morton, Staubach and early Aichman teams. I stopped giving a rip when Michael Irvin started acting like a fool etc. Same reason I don't care about the Lakers anymore, Kobe's a spoiled rotten jerk. Same reason I don't like Barry Bonds, Terrel Owens etc. Have some class and shut your dang mouths.

Nope, don't care for the 'boyz' and never did - guess that is because I am more of a Steel City kind of guy.

Here's my theory - it is exactly what makes them impossible to tolerate as a human that catapults them into another realm athletically. That annoying self centered attitude pushes them very hard to excel. It doesn't make me like them necessarily, but from a logical standpoint I think it makes sense to expect someone with great talent to be a bit of an jerk. (Jerry Rice being a notable exception)

Yup jasonh, I agree. They have also had people telling them they are the best this and the best that since they were 10. They still deserve boycotting . . . and there are plenty of Jerry Rice type examples: Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Cal Ripken, Rod Carew, Mike Piazza. This is becoming a hijack, sorry.

Cowboys Rule!

Not making this a religious thread, but Tom Landry was a strong Christian man who expected those values from the players and got it. That's what made them America's team.

How, then do you explain people like Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, Willy Mays, Hank Aaron, Joe Louis, etc., etc. ??

I think the JockJerks happen because we tolerate them.

Re: How about them Cowboys?

I've been a Cowboys fan all my life, despite being raised in Redskin land (a team I despise). It was a tough time in the '80's with Gibbs' Redskins doing so well.

It's really nice seeing Jason Garrett with the Cowboys and doing so well. It's also nice seeing TO being a much better (quieter) player this year. Romo really seems like he may be the real deal. I love the way he plays, so I wish him the best.

Each and everyone above, simply a 'class act'

Unfortunately, JB, they're just a reflection of what our society has become. As I had said before in the thread that got deleted, "this country is rottening from the inside out" Every great civilization has lasted at the most 200 years before its demise......we're at 231 and counting............we're on borrowed time. (ok, getting off soapbox again)

See my post above. Notice any correlation between what you just said and "our rottening nation" ?
