As Bob said, you keep up with it ... don't let it get that deep. We generally start plowing when the snow is about 6 inches deep and keep after it while it is snowing or drifting.

you don't see too many of those v-plows. most angle it all to one side of the other. that would not be good for plowing a parking lot, where you want all the snow to go to one side. But that will let you get thru a drift, by not letting as much snow pile up in front.

can you change the angle of the whole plow?

Around here, that's pretty much all you see is v-plows. You have the versatlity of putting it in a "v" positon for deep heavy snow to make your first pass. Invert the "v" and use as a scoop for quicker cleanup, or, angle it to move snow off to the side. I can put each side of the blade in any position I want.

For you folks up in the snow belt, who regularlly get a lot of snow, how do you handle plowing out your driveways? Usually you can do it with a pickup, with a plow on it, or an average sized farm tractor. But this last 2 ft, with 4 ft drifts was too much for most pickups, even state road plows.

So if you live in the rockies, down a long driveway, is a front end loader a must have? do you just pay someone to dig you out with a loader? that is what we had to do. the county road crews had to call in loaders and tractors with snow plowers hooked up the the pto to get the drifts. So do most farms in the snow belt have huge front end loaders for this stuff?

I use a Craftsman 5hp snow blower that has rubber tracks like a dozer. Gets a ton more traction that blowers with tires....

However, it will rip down a chain link fence in about 2 seconds if you get to close....learned that the other day

Even though I am now an honorary coonass, I have pushed a bit of snow in my time, in everything from a Ford F150, to an Autocar ten wheeler, with a very large plow and spreader.

If you really want to have some fun, though, try one of these bad boys!

Thank you Mother Nature........ I just woke up to a fresh heavy layer of 18" which was based on a simple 3-5" prediction

ANd as for today's prediction......Today: Snow. High near 37. East wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow. Low around 31. East wind between 6 and 9 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Just make sure the kids toys are not buried in the snow before you rip into the drifts(speaking from experience)

Did you get an Ariens? pics?

Don't worry EZ if you don't get enough snow to warrant keeping it you can always convert that thing into a nice kicker motor for the SS, there might be a thread in the works there

I got this one http://www.toro.com/home/snowthrowers/gassinglestage/221Q.html I realize it would probably not be deemed adequate by many of you but for the majority of the snow storms we typically get around here it should be fine. And if it isn't, I just go out more often. Plus I worked as a teenager for an apartment complex and we had a fleet of 4 two-stroke Toros that we did 25 buildings worth of sidewalks with and they kicked butt. Plus I like that it won't take up a ton of room in the garage the rest of the year. I got enough crap as it is. I bought it brand new off ebay for a good bit off the retail price with free shipping.

Nice deal ya got...free shipping?!? Hard to pass that up. Electric start is a lifesaver on a snowblower. Not always the easiest to pull-start a cold machine.

Nope. Just a bunch of 30 somethings that keep to themselves. I'll be going out and doing my stuff and then quietly retreating back into the house However my next door neighbors on either side travel for work so if I see their wives are home and dealing with it themselves I'll certainly lend a hand.

I got a guy across the street with 4 older kids and he shovels. That's just doing it wrong.....

we STILL have 2 ft on the ground in the shade. we live next to a really busy road, and all of the snow is melted right next to the road. But the back fields are still impassable.
