I dive, and leave my raft/boat anchored while I'm diving, I am wondering what is the best way to prevent someone from stealing my craft while I'm 100 yds away underwater on a dive, how would you do it?

i'd hide a kill switch. flip it when you dive.

you should have a top man. nothing is going to stop some one if they want it. all the have to do is pop the cowl, unplug the harness, and jump the solenoid and they are on their way. a hidden kill switch won't stop them.

Nothing will ever make your boat unstealable (word?)

But, what you can do is.

Hide the keys, or as I do, I have lockable box on the boat, I put my boat keys in there, lock it, then hide the key. Then I disconnect the battery.

You won't find a good way, but you can deter people with the ideas posted above. I have a buddy who recently (about a yeay ago) who does boat repos in his free time. Sometimes, he is able to catch people at home or on the water and folks hand them over without problems. Other times, he finds them tied up at the marina and has seen all kinds of ways to keep him from taking the boat.

1. Removing the fuel line
2. Removing the battery
3. Padlock it to the dock
4. Take the prop off

One story was that he showed up Monday early morning to grab a boat. the guy had the prop off, taken the battery and padlocked three of the eyelets to the dock. He just cut the locks and grabbed his seadoo and towed the boat to the ramp and loaded it up. the finance company later called him saying the guy wanted his money for the padlocks he cut and the money for the raminder of the slip lease. Another story has that he had to grab a trailered boat at about 3 am. He hooked up, walked around twice and pulled it out about 5' from the house to make sure all was well. He then nocked on the door a guy answered and said yup, take the boat but let me get the keys. He came back out with a shotgun so he took off. He didn't realize the guy had run a cable thogh the trailer around a column of the house. Ripped the brick column right off and only scratched the paint on the boat.

I pull the prop and take one oar.
